Activus Investment Advisors is co-founded by Steve Merlicek, one of the most successful and top performing investors and a pioneer of superannuation investment with over 25 years investment experience in the Australian market and Robert Talevski, an accomplished investment executive with over 18 years of experience in investment management and advisory activities globally.


Robert Talevski – Managing Director

Robert is an accomplished investment executive with over 18 years experience in investment management and advisory activities across large Australian superannuation funds and institutional investors.

Robert founded Brightstone Capital Advisors, a firm that provides investment advisory services to Australian superannuation, institutional and high net worth investors.

Prior to that, at Australia's largest corporate superannuation fund, he managed the $1 billion Global Private Markets and $2.5 billion Global Shares portfolios.

Prior to that, Robert was an Investment Consultant at JANA Investment Advisors providing investment advice to large industry and corporate super funds, charities and private wealth clients totalling $20 billion.

Prior to joining JANA, Robert worked in London with INVESCO, IMS (Investment Manager Selection), and Threadneedle Investments.


Robert is a Board Member of the Autism Behavioural Intervention Association.

Robert has a Bachelor of Business (Accounting & Law) from Victoria University and has a GraduateDiploma of Applied Finance & Investment from the Financial Services Institute of Australia (FINSIA).



Steve Merlicek – Chairman

Steve was one of the longest serving Chief Investment Officers in Australia with more than 25 years investment experience across large Australian superannuation funds and institutional investors.

Steve was Chief Investment Officer at IOOF for 7 years, he was responsible for the funds management division, comprising $17 billion in investments. IOOF recently won the Multi-Sector Fund of the Year 2016 at the Lonsec/Money Management Awards and was finalist for the Asset Allocator of the Year category.

He recently received the top ranking from ratings agency Chant West. Steve was named CIO of the Year in the inaugural 2012 National Achievement awards.

Prior to joining IOOF, Steve was the Chief Investment Officer at Telstra Super for 10 years. During this time Telstra Super was consistently a top performing fund, and received numerous investment awards.

Steve is a member of the Investment Committee for the Baker Heart & Diabetes Institute and the Walter & Eliza Hall Institute of Medical Research.


Steve has a Bachelor of Economics (Honours) from Monash University in Melbourne, a Master of Commerce (Honours) from the University of Melbourne and a Fellow of the Financial Services Institute of Australia (FINSIA).​​
